  • Bitcoin is trading at $80,344.00 and is down 0.20% in the last 24 hours, with the market cooling off as the weekend comes to a close.
  • Ethereum and Solana are showing more weakness than bitcoin, a sign of lower risk appetite within the crypto universe.
  • Attention is now turning to the Fed and the ECB, whose agendas could influence liquidity and the tone of the market this week.

The crypto market arrives on Sunday with less risk appetite: bitcoin today

Bitcoin today is moving lower and, for me, the relevant point is not just the pullback but its context: it is trading at $80,344.00 at 12:29 (5:29 in Mexico City), with a 0.20% decline over 24 hours. The market is losing some momentum after a weak week and with monetary policy once again too close to ignore.

Bitcoin: gives up ground and remains trapped near intraday lows

The bitcoin price remains below Saturday’s close and stands at $80,302.70 at 12:29 (5:29 in Mexico City) on Yahoo Finance, with a daily drop of 0.60%. The session range runs from $80,920.16 to $80,007.93. Over five sessions it has fallen 3.18%, and over the last month it is down 4.44%.

That detail matters because the market is not rewarding risk even on the weekend, when often all it takes is a spark of liquidity to exaggerate moves. Bitcoin is holding up better than many altcoins, but it is not showing clean strength either. Until it recovers the intraday high area, the immediate bias remains one of restraint. In addition, cryptoassets are highly volatile and can lose much of their value.

Ethereum: falls more than bitcoin and confirms relative weakness

Ethereum is trading at $2,329.66 at 12:29 (5:29 in Mexico City), down 1.43% over 24 hours on CoinGecko. On Yahoo Finance it is quoted at $2,328.61, 1.16% below the previous close. Over the last month it is down 13.45%.

What this means. When ethereum falls more than bitcoin, I usually read it as a sign of lower risk tolerance within the crypto market itself. It does not always foreshadow a deeper sell-off, but it often shows that liquidity is becoming more selective. For me, that is today’s message: money is not just leaving the extremes, it is also reducing exposure in the sector’s second-largest asset. If this pattern continues into the start of the week, the market will arrive more fragile at the ECB meetings on 10/28 and 10/29 and the Fed meeting on 10/27 and 10/28.

Solana: the punishment for altcoins continues

Solana is down to $100.77 on CoinGecko, with a 0.57% decline over 24 hours. On Yahoo Finance it falls 1.55% to $100.69, after moving between $102.57 and $100.37. Over one month, the loss reaches 17.47%.

What this means. Solana remains a good gauge of speculative appetite. When it lags behind bitcoin and does not rebound decisively, the market is usually discounting less willingness to pay high multiples for future growth. No need to dramatize: the adjustment may simply be a digestion of prior excess. But to me it says that fast money is not entering with conviction. If pressure continues, the focus will shift from narrative to the amount of real liquidity available to support demanding valuations.

XRP and BNB: the exception exists, but it does not change the overall tone

XRP is up 1.10% over 24 hours on CoinGecko and stands at $1.2900, while BNB advances 1.27% to $740.65. On Yahoo Finance, BNB also appears in positive territory, up 0.29%, versus XRP being almost flat on the day.

What this means. The fact that two names are holding up better does not mean the market is strong; it means, rather, that weakness is not fully uniform. That reduces the risk of indiscriminate liquidation, but it is not enough to talk about a reversal. For the tone to truly change, I would rather see bitcoin stabilize and ethereum stop losing relative traction. Meanwhile, XRP and BNB serve as a reminder that there is still internal rotation, not proof that broad risk appetite has returned.

Macro agenda: the week starts with central banks too close

Monday’s 10/26 calendar brings the German Ifo business climate at 10:00 (3:00 in Mexico City), with a forecast of 90.0 versus 89.9 previously. More important than that isolated release is the central bank calendar: the Fed communicates on 10/28 at 19:00 (12:00 in Mexico City) and the ECB on 10/29 at 14:15 (7:15 in Mexico City).

What this means. The crypto market lives off liquidity more than it sometimes admits. If the cost of money stays high for longer, assets without visible cash flow feel it sooner and more strongly. That is why it does not seem minor to me that bitcoin is arriving weak into a week with the Fed and the ECB in the spotlight. Interest rates do not need to rise for prices to tighten; a non-complacent message on inflation, credit or financial conditions is enough. In that environment, any rebound would need to prove much more than what we have seen today.

My view

I do not see a capitulation signal, but I also do not see a floor that deserves much drama. What has changed versus previous days is the breadth of weakness: bitcoin is down only slightly, yes, but ethereum, solana, cardano and dogecoin are arriving more punished. That usually happens when liquidity shrinks and the market accepts that easy money is in no hurry to come back.

My bias would remain cautious as long as bitcoin does not clearly recover today’s intraday high of $80,920.16, and as long as ethereum does not stop losing relative strength. The data point that could truly move the board arrives this week with the Fed on 10/28 at 19:00 (12:00 in Mexico City) and the ECB on 10/29 at 14:15 (7:15 in Mexico City). If both insist on higher rates for longer, the risk for crypto is fairly straightforward: less liquidity, more pressure, and valuations with less room for enthusiasm.
