Bitcoin dominates today: ETF and pressure on Ethereum and XRP

· By
criptomonedas Bitcoin — análisis de mercados
  • Bitcoin remains above $80,000, but ETF outflows are once again cooling institutional sentiment.
  • Ethereum mirrors the flow pressure and loses a key reference to lead a solid rebound.
  • XRP and Solana confirm weakness in altcoins: without their own catalysts, they depend on Bitcoin not breaking support.

Bitcoin leads today: ETFs: updated analysis with context for investors.

Bitcoin

Bitcoin cryptocurrencies open the day under pressure: it is trading at $81,558.1 at 07:49 Madrid time (00:49 Mexico City), down 0.73%. The confirmed catalyst today is net outflows of $82.39 million from U.S. spot ETFs on October 16, with $71.78 million leaving IBIT.

Analysis. Here is the key point: the market is not punishing a single piece of news, but rather the loss of institutional traction. If money stops flowing in through ETFs, holding $80,000 becomes more difficult. In Bitcoin’s favor, it remains above that psychological support. Against it, there is the sequence of redemptions and the backdrop of high rates. What you need to watch today is simple: if it holds $80,000 with volume, the damage remains contained; if not, the risk of another bearish leg increases.

Ethereum

Ethereum also arrives weakened. Investment products linked to ether recorded outflows of $69.68 million on October 16, and the price falls to $2,428.20 in the update published today by Investing.com.

Analysis. Ethereum is not only suffering from overall sentiment; it is suffering because flows, which are institutional fuel, are also cooling. That limits any sustainable rebound even if Bitcoin stabilizes the session. The immediate reference is whether ether regains relative traction versus BTC. If money keeps leaving investment vehicles, the market may continue to treat it as leveraged beta to risk, not as a cycle leader in its own right.

XRP

XRP is falling more than Bitcoin and Ethereum in today’s market snapshot. Early in the day, it is down 2.10% to $1.3103, while the broader Investing.com table later places it at $1.3042, a 2.89% decline on the session.

Analysis. When a major asset falls more than Bitcoin on an already weak day, the message is clear: there is less buying conviction. XRP remains sensitive to sharp shifts in risk appetite, and today it has no verified positive catalyst to offset that fragility. If the broader crypto market does not improve, XRP could continue acting as an amplifier of weakness. What matters is not just today’s decline, but the absence of new inflows to stop it.

Solana

Solana is also pulling back at today’s open. The update published today shows a 1.04% drop to $104.86, within a market dominated by red numbers across the main altcoins.

Analysis. Solana is falling less than XRP, but it still confirms the same reading: without its own catalyst, altcoins follow the deterioration in Bitcoin and the ETFs. SOL’s advantage is that it still retains a better relative tone than other large-cap names. The limit to that resilience is clear: if Bitcoin loses $80,000, the market will likely sell alts first. Today the focus is on whether SOL holds the $100 area or starts to give way on that round level.
